Rules & Regulations:

  • All exhibitors must be members of the D.C. Exhibition Assoc. Fee is $3.00
  • Canadian ID.(CFIA) ear tags are compulsory for all cattle coming into our show.
  • All animals in the registered section must be properly tattooed and a copy of the certificates of registration provided to the weigh clerk for the animals to enter the show.
  • All livestock must be on the grounds by 3:00 pm Thursday, August 10, 2017. Weigh-in on arrival.
  • All entries must stay on the grounds until 3:00 pm. Sunday, August 13, 2017.
  • Prizes may be a combination of cash & donated prizes.
  • Animals in the Junior classes are eligible to compete in Senior Classes, subject to payment of regular fees plus $3.00 membership being entered by Aug 5, 2017.
  • The director in charge will allot stalls and exhibitors are requested to see him/her before taking possession of any stall.
  • Entries are to be made on the livestock entry form accompanying this prize list. Please fill in all data.
  • Entry deadline is Thursday August 3, 2017.
  • There will be no restrictions on multiple exhibits in any classes (excluding group classes) up to the maximum number allowed of 11 exhibits.
  • All animals must be securely tied in the stalls allotted to them, All bulls, one year or older must be shown with ring or humbug and lead in their nose. Unruly animals may be dismissed from the show ring.
  • All beef cattle will be weighed with weights posted.
  • Exhibitors in Cattle Division: Please refer to General Rules & Regulations regarding Parking & Traffic Regulations.
  • Stock trailers used for livestock transport will be stored in Dawson Creek Exhibition Dry Dock, North of vet clinic.
  • Only competing livestock will be permitted in the barn.


  • Tie out Fee is $10.00 per head for weekend (includes barn and tie out fee, along with wood chips in the barn).
  • All entries will be weighed prior to the show.
  • No outside bedding in tieouts, straw bales will be available for purchase.

SECTION 19: Junior Cattle Show

Rules & Regulations:
  • Open to Exhibitors 6 – 19 years of age by July 20, 2017.
  • Junior – Age 6 – 13 years of age.
  • Senior – Age 14 to 19 years of age.


  • Points based on 5 exhibitors per class, otherwise adjusted to number in class.
  • Junior Cattle Class, Top Point $250
  • Senior Cattle Class, Top Point $250
  • If a tie occurs after all classes are placed in Junior and Senior Division, the tie will be broken by the highest placing Junior or Senior in Showmanship class

SECTION 20: Senior -Purebred Cattle Show

  • Senior Classes – Section 2 – 8
  • Designate Breeds as follows:
  • 2. Angus

  • 7. Salers
  • 8. Other Breeds

– Entry number should be breed number, followed by a dash and the class number

Entry Fee: $20.00 (or as Noted with Class)
Prize Money: 1st-$60 2nd-$50 3rd-$40 4th-$30

 20 A   Breeder’s Herd Interbreed Show 3 animals, both sexes represented. All animals must be bred by the exhibitor.
 20 B   Yearling Heifer born in 2016 
 20 C   Two year old heifer born in 2015 with her own natural purebred 2016 calf. 
 20 D   Mature cow born in 2014 or prior with her own natural purebred 2016 calf. 
 20 E   Senior and Reserve Senior Champion Female 1st & 2nd place Classes C-D ( Ribbon Only)
 20 F   Heifer calf born in 2017 Must be minimum of 3 month of age on show day. Registration papers necessary. If calf entered in class C or D places 1st or 2nd in class, they are not eligible to be shown in class F.
 20 G   Grand and Reserve Grand Champion Female 1st & 2nd from Classes B, E & F (Ribbon & Sponsor Prize)
 20 H   Pair of Females ( Ribbon Only) & Sponsor Prize
 20 I   Bull calf born in 2017 Must be a minimum of 3 months of age on show day. Registration papers necessary.
 20 J   Yearling Bull born in 2016. 
 20 K   Two Year Old Bull born in 2014. 
 20 L   Grand Champion and Reserve Champion Bull. 1st & 2nd place Classes I-K ( Ribbon Only) & Sponsor Prize
 20 M   Get of Sire. A group of 3 animals from the same sire , both sexes must be represented, at least one owned by the exhibitor. All animals must be shown in one of the above Limited to one exhibit/entry per exhibitor. (Ribbon & Sponsor Prize). NO ENTRY FEE

SECTION 21: Steer Classic


Schedule: Friday, August 11, 2017 @ 6:00PM

Rules & Regulations:

  • All Steers must be under control at all times without the use of humbugs, nose rings or tail ties in the nose or the use of drugs.
  • A COMPLETE BRAND MANIFEST must be submitted to the scale clerk at the time of weigh in for each steer entered.
  • All steers will be weighed prior to the show and this will be the official show weight.
  • Limit 2 entries per exhibitor.

 21 D   Steer Auction Sale-ALL STEER CLASSIC ENTERIES ARE ELIGIBLE FOR THE PUBLIC AUCTION SALE. Sale time 7:30 pm at VJV Auction Market. Sponsor Auctioneers: VJV. Entry sale: No cost included in entry fee. Those purchasing steers will have Free Delivery to Lawrence’s Meat Packing by Dawson Creek Exhibition Association.

SECTION 22: Supreme

Schedule: Saturday, August 12, 2017 @ 5:00PM
  • Prize Money may be a combination of cash & donated products.

Entry Fee: None (unless noted with Class)
Prize Money: $500

 22 A   Supreme Champion Female – From Class G Section 2-7
 22 B   Supreme Champion Bull – From Class L Section 2-7
The Dawson Creek Supreme Champion Bull & Female will be eligible to compete at the RBC Beef Supreme Challenge at the 2013 Regina Agribition. DCEA will provide supreme champion exhibitors with $250 cash and a $250 fuel voucher to assist with Agribition expenses.(upon proof of entry)

SECTION 23: Pen Of 3 Yearling Heifers

Rules & Regulations:
  • One entry per Competitor
  • Not Haltered
  • No Clipping Allowed


  • Judging to follow the Purebred Show on Saturday August 13th.

SECTION 24: Cattle Open Stall Decoration

Rules & Regulations:
  • Stalls will be Judged on:
  • Educational Content: Description, name, weight, birth date, breed. Characteristics of animal – how it relates in food chain and market place – someone on hand to answer questions, etc.
  • Attractiveness: Decorative plants, trees, farm implements, etc.
  • Cleanliness: Stall swept, clean hay etc.

Entry Fee: None (unless noted with Class)
