4-H Division

Rules & Regulations:

  • All exhibitors must be members of a 4-H Club.
  • To exhibit in any of the 4-H Livestock classes, you must be registered in that project.
  • Clover Bud: 6-8 years of age, as of December 31 of the previous year.
  • Juniors: 9-12 years of age as of December 31 of the previous year.
  • Seniors: 13-21 years of age as of December 31 of previous year and have passed Junior prof. exam.
  • Sections 1 – 5 are open to all 4-H members.
  • All exhibitors must be members of a 4-H Club.
  • All Livestock exhibits must be projects for the current year.
  • 4-H members may enter open classes with their livestock. Open class entry fees are to be paid by the member.
  • Judges will place the exhibits and their decisions will be accepted as final.
  • Water will be available on site but each exhibitor must provide feed and bedding and look after his/her livestock.
  • The Exhibition Assn. will not be responsible for any losses or accidents to exhibits.
  • Cattle need to be on the grounds by 3:00 PM Wednesday with weigh in at 4:00 PM.
  • Displays and animals must remain on the grounds until 5:00 PM on Sunday. If they are removed earlier, without prior arrangement, the prize money may be forfeit.
  • The conduct of exhibitors is expected to be appropriate at all times. Behavior that is not becoming to 4-H can result in removal of exhibits from classes and forfeit of Prize Money.
  • 4-H Exhibits accepted 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday.

Notes:

  • 4-H is an educational program that provides opportunity for rural and urban youth to learn basic agricultural and homemaking skills. These young people learn management skills through the handling of their projects. As well, leadership skills are developed through every aspect of 4-H work.
  • Although 4-H is a youth organization with members ranging in age from 6 to 21, it is an organization that encourages the whole family to be involved, whether it be in support of a 4-H member or as a volunteer leader. All 4-H projects on display are made / raised / trained throughout the 4-H year. The award system is designed to aid individual personal development of the 4-H member, where awards are given on the basis of the 4-H members personal achievement.
  • During the fair come out and talk to the 4-H members and leaders about the 4-H program.

SECTION 1: Poster Competition

  • Poster is to promote 4-H to the public.
  • Posters will become the property of the South Peace District 4-H Council.

  • Entry should be most recently completed book, year 2016 and 2017.
  • Deadline for all record books is July 19, 2017.

  • The top Record Book will be awarded the Karl Wolf Memorial Trophy

Rules & Regulations:
  • One entry per club or one per project in a multi-club.
  • Display no larger than 180 cm wide x 120 cm high x 90 cm deep, or (72″ wide x 48″ high x 36″ deep).
  • Display must include 4-H emblem.
  • Refer to guidelines in the Communication Manual.

LEARN TO DO BY DOING The well-known 4-H motto ” learn to do by doing” is an integral part of the Show. A stroll through the livestock building during the Dawson Creek Exhibition will reveal members hard at work sweeping the aisles and grooming their projects. On show days, there is a frenzy of activity as animals are prepared for the ring and members ready themselves for inspection by the Judge.

    Rules & Regulations: Barn Display is a club project and will be judged on Thursday, August 11, 2016. Club members should be available for questioning by the judge. Judging will be at 3:00 pm.

 2    Club Display 
    Rules & Regulations: The club display is to advertise the activities of your 4-H club. Size: no larger than 180 cm high x 180 cm wide x 90 cm deep (72″ wide x 72″ high x 36″ deep). Must include 4-H emblem.

  • Sheep must be in for vet checks or inspection Wednesday evening, August 5, 2015. No sheep will be allowed into the barns until the vet has checked them.
  • All male animals must have testicles removed.
  • Animals must be ked & disease free.
